What is a Lutheran?

Almost 500 years ago a pastor in Germany named Martin Luther was concerned about the direction of the Christian Church. In Luther's analysis of God's Word, he realized the church was in need of a reminder of its initial foundation in Jesus Christ. Those who agreed with him were called Lutherans and follow these basic principles. Man has disobeyed God. We have sinned by not following His perfect law. We have not kept God 1st in our lives, we have all lied or stolen, taken God's name in vain or lusted after the opposite sex. The Bible is very clear that because of these things and the many other things we do against Him, we all fall short of the Glory of God and deserve punishment, which is death. We all need to be rescued from the judgment of a perfect and just creator.

In His perfect love, God has provided a way. He came down to earth from heaven, became man, in the person of Jesus Christ, was persecuted and crucified on a cross, and then rose from death. In so doing these things, He has paid the debt that we owed. He has stood before the judge of the world and paid OUR fine. We believe we can be saved only by.......

1.Faith Alone - We have a good and loving God who desires that all people in His creation come to know Him as Lord and Savior. In Order to have this understanding and relationship with God, He gives us the gift of faith; trusting in His promises through Jesus Christ

through....

2. Grace Alone - Not getting what you deserve is mercy. Getting what you do not deserve is grace. We deserve nothing, but God gives us everything.  Our Lord freely gives us faith in Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior; not because we're good enough, or deserve it, or because we have chosen Him, but only because of His choosing and undeserved love toward us. These things are all God's doing. He is the author and perfector of our faith.

from......

3. Scripture Alone - The word of God, or the Scriptures, is the only basis for the faith and teachings of the Lutheran Church. God's Word is inspired by God alone and without error. All of Scripture points to Jesus Christ, who lived, died, rose from the dead, and is coming soon. There is no foundation for our lives and our church other than Jesus Christ!

Now that you have heard the Gospel, REPENT (or turn away from YOUR sins) and put YOUR TRUST in the Lord and giver of Life.........,

JESUS CHRIST!
